I took tons of photos, but I can't seem to get a good shot of this bonnet! Oh well, here are the best two. The trim is just pinned on as I'm still considering.

I got a lot done yesterday on this bonnet!

Here's the bonnet frame dried right off the headform

Here's the inspiration, the Ebay auction that got too rich for my blood:

Here's where I begin my bonnet frame. Thanks to Denise Nadine, who sold me a lot of buckram a while back, I had lots on hand! The instructions come from Lazy K over at the Belle Alley. She did a photo instruction post that is perfect for this project!

I covered my Styrofoam headform with tinfoil and plastic wrap, secured it to the dining room table with duct tape (Lord knows we never use the table for anything other than a shelf!) , drew on the shape I wanted (tracing around another antique bonnet as a pattern), moistened my heavy weight buckram, and began following Lazy K's instructions. I liked her idea of "height", and one of my antique bonnets is made exactly the same way, so I decided to go for her 'curled brim' view.
