Help me with my raven costume

I need to tap into all the great creativity here on my very talented friend's list!

After finding a beautiful raven mask at Pottery Barn (of all places), I decided to be a raven for Halloween. OK, so I have the mask, which is very elegant with a mass of dyed black coque feathers, black glitter and a little sequins. I also have a black coque feather collar, and I'll probably wear the corset in that photo, too. So...give me some more ideas under $50!! I could get wings, but the event is really crowded, and I fear I'll get sick of spilling everyone's drink/knocking people in the face with them. Alternatives? I did a google search and saw this, so wanted to let you know I've seen this link already, but it didn't show me anything new.

I also found this coque feather trim: http://cgi.ebay.com/Coque-feather-fringe-72-inches-black-irridescent-trim_W0QQitemZ170385100169QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27abbe4d89&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 What can I do with it? Sew it up the length of my gloves? Something around my shoulders somehow?

Other ideas?

Thanks, everyone!!

Could you do an off-the-shoulder cape, with that gorgeous trim around the shoulders?

The trim on the gloves sounds lovely, but also annoying, and may damage the feathers, as people use their hands a lot, and arms get bumped into. If it's n the cape, you may be able to get use out of the piece in other ways :)

I've used a feather trim on a ballgown bodice, like you can see here: http://www.deglee.nl/enchanteddreams/Photogallery/pg_gallery.php?lib=2007 Castlefest

You can easily take it off again if you just handsew it on.

Ooops. I don't know why it didn't work, as I can see the pictures. I'll post some on my lj for you.

Instead of wings you could have the feathers fall off the edge of the seam of the gloves. Place it were one would place rhinestones going up the outer edge of a glove. Make sure the gloves are full arm length. This way it can mimic a wing look. I would also suggest a small amount of feather at the back of the dress bussel area. Birds do have tail feathers. Right?

Too bad you don't have small purse that looks like a dead rodent or something.

Would you wear bright blue contacts to complete the look?

Just my pre-finishing coffee comments.

Great minds think alike! That is precisely what I envisioned when I saidI thought of sewing the feather trim up the arm!

Last week at an event, a friend was wearing a red ribbon that was tied to the back of a collar and to her wrists. I think if the feather trim was flexible enough, you could sew it to a black ribbon and wear it the same way.
Another option is to go down your back instead of out, like these insect corsets (http://www.deliciouscorsets.com/DC_insect.html).

Dude. Where did you get the coque collar from?

C12 or 13 in the vendor room. No idea who made/sold it

Off to google....or make my own.

you could have a cape shaped like wings...that way wings wouldnt stick out but youd still have them?

Hrm... I have those from when I went as a bat a few years ago. I could spruce them up with feathers!

Have you seen this corset? Maybe you could tack on the feathers to your corset for the night.

I'm doing a raven burlesque costume for all the halloween in my life, and was thinking about using coque strips run up opera length gloves.

Can't wait to see your costume!
