More progress on the 18th century gown

Today I constructed the over skirt. When I say constructed, ...yeah...it's more like an architectural moment than sewing!! Anyway, It went pretty well. I put my panniers on my mannequin and took piccies of the gown so far.

So tomorrow I'll construct and apply the sleeves and hopefully make the underskirt. It looks pretty lifeless with out a petticoat underneath. I also usually use a small bustle pillow in back to fill in the area between the hip buckets in the back. Oh yeah, I also have to put on the hooks and eyes and hem the overgown.

Awww, thank you, Lady!! I wish I had more time for this. Halloween really snuck up on me this year. I had planned on starting this much earlier, but school really took over my entire life. I had to turn down so many wonderful invitations in order to study and/or write papers. I knew I had a few days between the 24th and Halloween to start making this. I'm so glad that I had previously cut out the 19 pattern pieces and most of the fabric. That takes sooo long!!
