Striped Polonaise-The Beginning

A while back, I bought the Period Impressions polonaise pattern in order to re-create the Duchess of Devonshire's floufy striped polonaise from the Bath Scene.



Also a while back, a friend gifted me with many yards of silver and cream striped silk. Perfect for this project!

Yesterday I began cutting out the fabric, and so far have put together most of the petticoat. Here is one of the flounce sections after it was pinked and frey-checked. Yay for costume movies for such a tedious job!

This will be gorgeous! The fabric is perfect for this project. I can hardly wait for it to be finished! You are done when I come back from our short break??? That gives you about a week, LOL. No, just teasing you.

And YAY, tomorrow I'm finally going to see The Duchess! I have been waiting so long for this movie. Especially seeing everyone being inspired and creating such beautiful gowns. I'm afraid my obsession will only increase though and that I will "need" a lot more polonaise gowns.
