The Anna Karenina dress

I finally got around to holding up the white box pleated, black rolled hem organza I have for this dress, and I realized my precious linen is really ivory. Oh no! The white is GLARING. What to do?

Tea!

Lemon tea!

No, not to calm me down, to dye my poly organza trim. I wondered if it would take the tea dye, but it did. Yay!

See the difference between the tea-dyed test strip of organza and the glaring white organza? Yay, I'm so glad it worked!

Another reason to love tea! :)

And tea saves the day again!

Yeaaaa!!! I'm glad the tea worked. I'd have a cup to celebrate too.. the long island variety :)

Oooh, great idea!

Wow, that's great! Now where ever did you find that trim?

Thanks! That's a great resource.

How fortuitous, and the colour match looks excellent!

Yeah, now to hope the whole batch comes out right :)

At least you were able to get away with only using one type ~ in the past, I remember having to blend a few to get the right shade ~ some of which I only needed a bit of and it felt so wasteful not to be drinking it too ;)

I know it's not the look you're going for with this design, but I actually like the variegated look ~ that's how my Havisham dress is ~ an ode to all the various time-worn shades in the ivory realm!

Oooh that worked great! I never would have thought to use lemon tea. Good idea.

Nice save! It's a great match now.

I always wanted to tTea dye something, anything... but never have gotten the chance. Good to see it "takes" to poly organza...

It came out nice. Good to know, because I may be having to tea dye my white lace for my cuffs.

Yay! I'm so glad it worked out. I cant wait to see this dress. I think it will be so drool-worthy!

Awesome! Did you overlock the edges yourself? That trim is perfect! I'm so lazy....I try to avoid having to dye any of my fabrics as much as possible. You're a brave one. Tea dyeing is kind of fun tho...cause the mess/stain level is kind of low. Can't wait to see the next level of progress!

I'm so glad the tea dying worked! It looks like a perfect match now.

Yay for a relatively easy, inexpesive solution. Your gown is going to be fabulous!! What a pretty inspiration gown.
