My beautiful spangled antique fan came. It's beautiful! It's bigger than I pictured. The guards are 14" long! Photographing this has proved difficult, but I'll share my attempts.
(Catnip had to stick his tail in that one! He knows a rockin' accessory when he sees one!)
Yup, gilded wood! The back guard is split, but not badly. I need to glue it back. I think after that I will place it in a shadow box and hang it on the wall to enjoy!
Freakishly amazing. You officially have tied for my favourite fan (the other is my art nouveau one that I saved from a mis-labelled fate, and added antique feathers of the same era to). Of course something yours has over mine is yours folds shut, so I fully expect it will be a travelling fan for various out of town events as well :)
The sticks sort of remind me of one I bought. The silk on it is shattered which is too bad because it had hand painted flowers which was pretty, but I bought it for the sticks. I had never thought of doing spangles on it.. but maybe when I remake it (yeah yeah... I know I am a slacker) I'll do it with spangles instead of a floral.
