Undergarments for Chemise a la Reine?

I need to make a chemise and a petticoat for the chemise a la reine. I have a corset already. I have a pattern for the chemise, but what kind of petticoat do I need to make? Advice on how full it should be? Do I wear a bum roll?

Should they be of linen or cotton? Light weight, I assume.

I wear a shift (chemise), 2 lightweight petticoats and a bum roll or false rump. I used the Wingeo pattern (the only one in the line I like! :>) for that. http://www.jennylafleur.com/precis/2004_01.htm

The petticoats are just 2-3 panels of fabric pleated onto a waistband. Linen is probably more accurate but cotton is easier on the budget so that is what I have right now. Both Katherine and I have short tutorials on 18th century petticoats you might find helpful.

Thanks, Lady!! You rock!!

And I'm SOOO glad you liked the Wingeo pattern. I'm suffering from sticker shock on the RH pattern...$40 with shipping. I know it's top quality, but this is just for little ole me.

Oh wait. You mean you used the Wingeo for the underthings, not the gown. Darn it!

I was going to say they want $40 for a bum roll pattern! But no, I used the Waugh diagram for the dress and the Wingeo for the false rump.
