Photo of 1830's bodice

I thought I'd reward your patience with a shot of the completed bodice (minus back closure!). I really like it. I just hope the darn thing doesn't make me look like a big marshmallow!

I should have noticed sooner, but you know... crazy busy with the move and stuff lately.
It looks terrific ~ will I get to see you in this next week, or is it for another event?

This is for the Tea at SalonCon, so this will be debuted the week after FIT. For FIT, I made the black bengaline and velvet Victorian gown.

I have a sewing workshop day in a few weeks and I want to start on my first hoops and a burnished brown silk to go over them. So, I'll post pictures as I get them done.

Good luck with your project!

Finally, the 1830's are not so ridiculous...

I love how the piping turned out. I hope it was worth all the work! :)

Yes, Colleen Atwood did the same treatment for the blue gown in ST. The zig zag bodice/gown has been popular for a long time according to fashion plates, and it's no wonder! I've seen it as early as Regency, but I'm sure it's been around longer.

I don't think you'll look like a marshmallow, but if you do it would be period correct :)

Thank you for the compliments! I have a love of big sleeves and topiary hair, so the 1830's sucked me right in!

I don't think you'll look like a marshmallow, because marshmallows aren't that colour. Maybe you'll look like a giant plum. ;)
The binding/piping/edges look good, and I notice you have matching buttons I presume you had to make too.

Yes, I made matching covered buttons. I swear that was the easiest part!
