Progress pics!

Here are a couple progress pics. I've never made a saque-back gown before, so the back pleating was a bit tricky for me. Constructing the inner back lining with the grommet lacing was also a new concept!

Here's a long shot of the back. Because the pattern is so loud, it's hard to see the pleating. Oh well.

Now here is a closeup of the back pleating. There will be a neck facing, so that's why it doesn't look done there.

Now here's the inside. In the very center you can see where the center back of the inner layer laces up. The drapery is mounted onto this on the other side.

For comparison (and a clearer pic!) here's a pic of the inside of an extant gown from the Danish Costume Museum http://tidenstoej.natmus.dk/index.html

More to come later this weekend!

Oh my, that is turning out lovely. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Btw, I suck. Thank you so much for shipping my gloves and fan. I received them a while back.

Wow! You are doing an excellent job! No WAY could I ever do anything so complicated! I couldn't even attempt it!

That's looking really nice... and I say that as someone who's had to make a few dozen of these... these are actually easier than the fitted back ones!
