Whew! It's done!
OK, Ladies! Here it is! You can't even tell, but there is a strip of gathered self fabric running up each side of the over skirt opening just like on extant gowns. The pattern is so loud that you really have to look to see, but it does give it a bit of dimension in person, so that's good.
I put it on and wore it around the apartment tonight. I felt so powerful and regal!! Like a pretty bulldozer! And the cats had no idea what to make of it. They just ran away, poor things.
Piccies of me wearing the darn thing coming Thursday.

Ha ha! The gown couldn't close over my mannequin's bust. I guess she's better endowed than I am!! So sad!

Have fun wearing it. And silly dressforms, they never work :)

Magnificent work!
And I loved your description of wearing it.. powerful and regal, like a pretty bulldozer. Gives me new perspective on old fashions, certainly :)

PS. About the bust measurements - it's usually recommended to make the dummy slightly smaller than your own measurements when doing 18th and buff up with a small flat pillow or fluff, since your own bust will be squished flat under the stays. ;)

YOUR DRESS IS AMAZING!!!!! You need like a little teacup with a silhouette on it. I love it. How fun!

Thank you! And wow-yes, I would love a little teacup with a silhouette on it!
I'm so glad you found my 'new' sewing journal. It's only been a few months, so it's cool.

Don't pay any attention to me. Everything is a pain in the ass for me to make, really, and I whine a lot! As long as it turns out in the end, I'm a happy camper!
But sleeves really and seriously are a torture. Just wanted to clarify that. >..< At least this was my first set of sleeves that doesn't have one lining that is inside out. I finally got that right!
