DVD- The House of Elliot
I put the BBC series The House of Elliot on my queue, and I watched my first installment last night. WOW!! I'm really in love with this series! As it's about two sisters who start a fashion house in the 1920's, I thought it was an appropriate topic for my sewing journal.

Has anyone else seen it and want to share how fun this series is?

IMHO, the later seasons weren't so good, but other viewers disagreed, so here's hoping you'll be one of them!

And it seems some of my other readers felt the same way as you, and the later seasons weren't as good. At least I'm prepared!

I haven't gotten to the part where they have a collection yet. They've just moved into the flat above the photo studio and are painting it.

Louise Lombard, who played Evangeline Elliott, is now on CSI as a detective. It took me the longest time to figure out where I had seen her before because her hair is long and blonde. A shame because I thought she looked great with her brunette bob.
Thank you for reminding me about this series. I'm going to go and see if I can find a set locally. I'd love to see the costumes again. Plus I had a thing for Aden Gillett at the time. (Saw him in Mary Poppins in London almost exactly 2 years ago now!)

I took some photos of some costumes and hats off the tv screen while on pause too. I so would want to make and wear clothes of that era.

...if you liked this, so if you can track down Mapp & Lucia. It's also set in the 20s, about the social life in an English seaside town that's thrown into turmoil when a new resident arrives. It has Geraldine McEwan and Prunella Scales as the two leads who try to outdo each other. MArvellously bitchy and the clothes are just heaven. Sadly shot on video and apparently the video transfer to DVD is horrible, but it's highly entertaining for the social sniping done excessively well by two terrific actresses...
