Undergarments for Chemise a la Reine?

I need to make a chemise and a petticoat for the chemise a la reine. I have a corset already. I have a pattern for the chemise, but what kind of petticoat do I need to make? Advice on how full it should be? Do I wear a bum roll?

Should they be of linen or cotton? Light weight, I assume.

I wear the following under my chemise:

shift (short sleeved)
corset
bum-pad
fluffy woollen petticoat (née blanket)
and (since last week) a muslin petticoat.

And of course stockings & shoes

I have a linen one, but I'm no expert! I love the painting in your icon - do you have a bigger one?

I haven't made one of these, but there was some discussion of undergarments here: http://community.livejournal.com/chemisedresses/2189.html

I wear a shift (chemise), 2 lightweight petticoats and a bum roll or false rump. I used the Wingeo pattern (the only one in the line I like! :>) for that. http://www.jennylafleur.com/precis/2004_01.htm

The petticoats are just 2-3 panels of fabric pleated onto a waistband. Linen is probably more accurate but cotton is easier on the budget so that is what I have right now. Both Katherine and I have short tutorials on 18th century petticoats you might find helpful.

Where did you get that icon? I want to see the full picture!
