Lighting is still poor, but here it is without any trim. Since the fabric is so light, most trim I've played with weighs it down and pulls the fabric. Hrm...I think I'll leave it like this.
'cause I don't have any more fabric and the event is tomorrow :) I was going for something streamlined and super simple this time around, sort of a "tailored" 18th. I can always do more with this later.
Heh, can't tell the fabric is light -- it looks heavy & stately in the pix! I love it w/out trim (& usually I'm a "moar trim" gal) bec. there's so much texture going on. The red belt is the prefect pop of color too. Perhaps a little something red in your hair?
There's an under petticoat of solid black, but the lace trim is just sewn to plain drapey net, so it's super light. Same stuff I used to make this cape, that I backed with beige satin http://www.neverlight.com/~madame.s/Sewing/lace%20cape.jpg
Yeah, something red in the hair. Wonder if I have a red feather somewhere?
Thanks! Yeah, that's the thing...with all the lace, there's a bunch of texture there and it's easy to become too busy. I like the simplicity of the way it is now. I'd like eventually to add an over gown of black, but it's neat as is.
Oh I love it! And it looks like you have a great full pair of panniers under there, very nice! I'm not sure I introduced myself, I'm Nikki...we've met at ulanas once or twice, but I've always loved your style.
I love it like this! Just like everyone said, the fabric is beautiful enough. It doesn't need any trim. The red belt really makes it pop. Love that touch of colour. I would wear bright red lipstick with it.

Date: 2010-01-16 07:17 pm (UTC)Yeah, I do wear it all. I wear them to goth clubs, costuming conventions (Goth Convergence, Costume Con) and private costuming parties.
