Hello! Thank you so much! Yeah, black dresses are all in the detail. They need texture or fancy draping or they become a bit boring.

I'll be wearing it to a reception for the new Renoir exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in August.

Thank you! Yes, the trims were very labor-intensive to make, and/or pin, and sew in place. The skirt is just huge and it required miles of trim.

wow, even for your normally awesome level of dress-making - that is awesome! It looks exactly like the picture, and you could easily put it up on one of those auction or museum sites and no one would no any better (although it would be in oddly excellent condition for a Victorian dress)
