I used scraps of the brocade to make self fabric sashes which I arranged into loops at the right side of the overskirt. Helps to pull the overskirt and underskirt together. I still want to get some lilac ribbon, too. I've already begun cutting out the ballgown bodice.

I put the darts in the bodice Tuesday night. . .was hoping to finish the top & bottom edges last night, but my commuter train home said "no." So hopefully that will get done tonight.

Every time I look at that material and the lovely draping I am transfixed. I know you said earlier it was a taffeta but it looks like a heavy, buttery satin. Gorgeous.

Actually, you are half right. It's a satin taffeta. Because of the satin element, I thought it would be drapier, but it ended up a VERY full over skirt!!

You know, I went back and looked at that pattern on the TV site and I much prefer the body and overall silhouette your material has given you. Oddly enough I didn't like the drawing and it never would have tempted me to make it but after seeing your pictures I think my mind has been changed.

Oh, thank you!

I'm laughing because the same thing happened with me regarding the TV 362 wash overskirt and the TV 405 Vest Basque. If you hang around the Belle Alley long enough, you begin to like ALL of the patterns when you see how people bring them to life!

Thanks! I'm so glad I didn't do what I originally intended for that fabric. I hesitated for so long, and it was because somehow I knew it was meant for another project. This one!

Oh it's the perfect touch! I am so loving this ensemble - I can't wait to see what you do with the bodices. :>

Sorry for the late reply. It was quite a birthday weekend!

Sadly, I haven't had time to touch the bodice. Luckily, it doesn't need to be done until mid February :)

Hi there!

Been reading your posts for a little while, and I have to say I'm stunned at your talent and relatively rare interests. Mind if I friend?
