(Insert maniacal laughter here)

Oh my! I am totally hopeless at using the "grid and tracing paper" method of drafting this pattern! You should see my attempts at these pattern pieces...they would fit an alien!! I ended up cutting out the tiny pieces from the website just to see if they fit together, and they do - beautifully.

Soooo, I'm off to Kinko's for re-sizing method #2 in which I enlarge what I have.

...that sounded dirty *giggle*.

OK, I'm back from Kinko's Copy Center, and I drove the poor manager up a wall. Or rather, he drove himself up a wall!

One of my sewing advisors was right, and not only was each piece to a different scale, but each side of each piece was a different scale, too! o_O

This made choosing how much to enlarge difficult because if we went with one measurement, it caused the measurement on the other side or bottom of the piece to be wrong. The manager couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that I just wanted "close enough". He wanted it perfect, and kept telling me it couldn't be done. I finally got him to understand that it didn't have to be exact, that I didn't even expect it to be exact, but as long as it was a manageable size for me to re-draft, I would be happy.

$15 and 4 pattern pieces later, and I'm home!

Hrm...this is not working out. When I put a paper mockup together, the shape of the bottom is all wrong. The pink lines show where it should fall, and the red lines outline where it falls in reality.

*disappointed*

OK, I took scraps of tracing paper and added to each pattern piece to make it the right shape. God, I hope I'm doing this right. I'm flying by the seat of my pants!!

Better?
