At least I finished something! Beige satin overlaid with black net lace.

Did you sew rows of lace onto that? Because if you did - you're crazy.

No, the fabric came with the strips of lace sewn on.

I was just going to comment if you sewed all these rows on lace onto it, you are perfectly nuts. :D
It's turned out absolutely gorgeous!

Awww, thank you! I know people who are nuts enough to sew on strips of fabric to get the look they want. In fact, this was such an example: http://www.carolinabelles.net/vb/showthread.php?t=11430

:O :O :O
I agree, this is insane. But worth every yard of ribbon, the dress is to die for.

How funny! I was just looking at the pattern for that cape in my stash yesterday and contemplating fabric! lol

Great job. Very pretty.

Thanks! The pattern really makes up nicely. I'm so happy with it. I'll post some lining photos, which show the construction better.

Is this what you were making instead of making the things you were supposed to be making? And it's the only one finished so far? :D
It looks very nice, and fairly simple, the perfect thing to quickly satisfy the creative impulse!
It's almost impossible to get lace fabric here, I don't know why, and the stuff I have seen is not so delicate looking as this.
Is it for everyday wear, or costume wear? I think it would be great as either.

Yeah, *hangs head in shame* it's the only one finished so far. It was more time consuming than it appears, and surprised me. Between the flat felled seams, understitching that endless hem, keeping the lace strips in line, and the double collar, it took longer than I expected. I thought this baby would be done in an afternoon, but that was impossible. However, I'm really pleased with the pattern and how it makes up.

This is for either costume wear or special events (wedding, Christmas party, etc). And it's kind of reversible because of the flat felled seams.

Thanks so much!

I got the fabric from a local store called Jomar. They sell discontinued or overstock fabrics from other source for a fraction of the original cost. This fabric was $1/yd!
