Blech

I didn't enjoy it. It was slow and boring, and I didn't care about any of the characters. To add insult to injury, there was only one notable gown the entire movie: When the protagonist goes to Paris to visit the Japanese madame, she comes out in a spectacular silk embroidered natural form tea gown. But we only see it for a moment, and then we only see the neckline afterwards. Remember that pretty dress we all saw Keira wear in the beach scene in the production photos last year? We only see it for a second or two, and it's all black because she's silhouetted against the sun.

Don't bother.

I've finally just watched Moliere, and I LOVED it!! I can't comment on the authenticity of the costuming, but it was sumptuous and gorgeous whether they took liberties or not (and I suspect they did!). I want to make one of the gowns right away!

Anyway, I thought it was hysterical, fun, and moved along very nicely. When it was over, I very nearly put it on again!

Anyone else see this and have notes?

Oh, and I swear I have been sewing this weekend! The brocade gown's bodice is nearly done. In fact, I was sewing the boning to the seam allowances while I watched Moliere. I have to attach the lining, put on the sleeves (which are already constructed and ready to go), make and attach the covered buttons, and put in button holes. OK, still a ways to go, but the alloying parts are done!
