I really trust your judgment, and my fear with this project was it looking too costume-y rather than like a serious brass top hat...if a brass top hat can look serious! The metal mesh is squishy and it's lined in soft black velvet, so it's not uncomfortable. Does it look too gold or too bare?
Not too gold but bare. OOH there is a but. Some of the things I painted gold, or brass, I aged with rubbing some black paint on them. Don't know if you can do this to the fabric. I'm off to CC. See you when I get back. I'll have photos of my Steampunk costume then to share.
