Happy Halloween!

Because of school I didn't have time to make a costume this year, so I decided to use feathers to turn existing clothing into a raven costume. I also have a great raven mask from the Pottery Barn of all places.

Here's a preview of what I have done for the upper half. God, I hope the feathers stay in place! They are only pinned to the bodice with straight pins since they will have to come off afterwards. Any advice?

[EDIT] I've decided to use small black safety pins.

You could do a layer of masking tape on the inside of the bodice to help hold the feathers together so they are less likely to fall out one by one. It looks great though! :-)

It's actually a strip of feathers on a ribbon binding. God, I love Ebay! I think I'll use tiny black safety pins. It's Halloween and no one will care!

Can you baste the feathers on? Basting threads are easy to take out later, but generally hold better than straight pins. (I baste A LOT.)

I thought of that, but my sewing supplies are still in boxes. So sad! I've decided to use black safety pins. They are used on most of my outfits! All hail the safety pin!
