I've got the front sewn to the back at the right side and the front hem done. Need to do the left side placket, back gathering/waistband, back poufs, back hem, closure buttons and button holes, and ruffles.

Here are the progress photos with the skirt pinned to the mannequin

I have the petticoat train clipped up so the cats don't ruin it. They already put a big ole hole in it about 6 inches above the top ruffle when they went tearing across it at mach 9.

No problem! It is made from TV 305 bustled apron overskirt. In the directions, she has you A) flatline the upper portion of the back with stiff netting and B) you sew three lengths of twill tape (or strong ribbon -like grosgrain) to the top of the back of the bottom of the waistband. Then you play with bustling up the fabric and tack it to the tapes randomly until you like the way it looks. Like this:

Some people, in order to let the fabric lie flat for washing and ironing, sew button holes into the twill tape and buttons to the underside of the bustled area. that way, they can let it back out for easy laundering. Me? I use small safety pins so I can get the same effect and ease of laundering without all the hassle of sewing buttons and button holes! I'm the queen of safety pins!

Thank you so much! I'm a really visual person, so it definitely helps to see how it's done. That makes so much sense, and I'm right with you on the safety pin thing! I would worry that buttons would cause issues with ironing though. My victorian bodice is hell to iron because I used hook and eye tape. Thanks again!
