Can anyone tell me about how many yards the chemise gown (chemise a la reine) requires? Would 4 yards of 60" be right? 5 yards? I'm 5'5" with a 27" waist and small bust.

Also, I found a ton more of that pretty cotton voile at the Joann's here in Vermont. Would that be ok to use to make this garment? (see the fabric HERE)?

Thanks, guys!!

Pretty fabric! It'd be ok for sure :)

Let's see, you'd want two and a half or three panels of that, shoulder to hem, for the tube that makes the body, then whatever you want for sleeves.

I used four panels of 36" wide fabric for mine. I think I made the narrowest dress out of those of us who made them at Costume College, but I'm also a shrimp :)

I love that icon! So true! And now I FINALLY have a place to wear one, so I'm gleefully hopping on the bandwagon! Now...I have to pink* an accent color for sash and hat :D

Thanks for the advice, oh Queen of the Chemise a la Reine!!

*hrm...quite a Freudian slip, eh? I didn't realize I'd made that typo until after I posted the response!
