New patterns out

Looks like Reconstructing History is putting out some new patterns that look really great!
I wonder if the reason for the new chemise dress is due to the large number of ladies of my acquaintance who made them this past Spring/Summer!!

I also like the Regency men's greatcoat and the ladies' Regency morning dress

Date: 2008-02-24 09:30 pm (UTC)Personally, I think some things are made easier with measurements than with patterns, and a chemise dress is definitely one of them! As are 1840s-1860s skirts. I can't imagine the size of the pattern pieces you'd have to lay out!
However, not everyone can work instructionless, and in that case, a pattern is good. I'd still be more likely to say cut out this big rectangle than provide a pattern piece if I were making the pattern, and just provide a shape to cut out the neckline and underarm.
